Also, I'm playing and showing some videos on Thursday night at Big Bear cafe (1st and R NW), in the Cheryl's Gone monthly reading and performance series (www.cherylsgone.com). Please come out if you're around. It starts at 8:00, I'll be on at either 8:30 or 9:00 - except if you can come, I wouldn't skip the other acts, I'm excited to see them.

This is a little early for a reminder about the open mic next tuesday, but I also wanted to get the word out there - TOMORROW NIGHT (Friday 9/12) the BITTER POET will be back down from NY, hosting the BITTER POET'S WORLD OF BITTER VARIETY SHOW at the Palace of Wonders, 10:00 pm. Video of his performance 2 days ago at the open mic is UP at www.youtube.com/livehumansindc. From what I've heard, tomorrow's variety show is also going to include the burlesque performance artists MISS MARY CYN and BAMBI GALORE.

Down but Not Out

"C'mon DCComedy4now....C'mon...godamn it...charge it up...KEEP PUMPING! (grabs young EMT rookie by the collar)...you quit doing chest compressions ? You're goddamn right you keep doin'em! You quit when I grab you by the balls and tell you to quit! So until that time, you keep beat'n on that heart like it owes you money--got it!...Alright!...Clear!...Hit'em again...Clear!...Nothing...One more time...I said one more time! (Go through scene from the end of Aybss)...Alright...we're gonna call it at 1:03 pm...wait...wait...My God...it's logging on! It's logging on!..It may not be the smartest blog in the world..but its a fighter....Well, lets notify the President!...Well, maybe not, but a press release is in order to all...no...probably not...well, ....I'll call my mother.

Well, I'm back from Portland, nice city...I've got just under a half-oz left...Anyway...one observation from interviewing people--When you stick a camera in someones face, its very similar to sticking a gun in their face--their motorskills slow down, they are very careful about what they say and if they do say anything at all, they just scream....Moving on...I see that Aparna has taken care of the place quite nicely. Nick left most of the lights on, some Chinese take-out boxes laying around and porno playing in the boardrooom and it looks like Mr. Hastings took full advantage of that...I can't believe Jay, he of all people, still has a key. Well here is what was in the mailbox:

There is now a LIVE HUMANS IN DC open mic every Tuesday off into the future, at either Solly's, the Electric Maid, or the Palace of Wonders - there's a 5th Tuesday this month, and it's not entirely regular where it happens on each Tuesday anyway - so if you ever forget where you're going, look at the schedule is up at www.myspace.com/livehumansindc.

This week it's at the Palace of Wonders (1210 H St., NE), with featured act STRIPMALL BALLADS (www.myspace.com/stripmallballads).
